Meeting point (parking)
Metzad Tamar night campsite (old quarry)
The meeting point is the parking spot. You continue on foot from here.
Coordinates: 31.02761, 35.24307
About
From Metzad Tamar a blue-marked dirt road heads north-west, then turns east along the bed. After about two and a half kilometres there is a three-way junction, and a green-marked dirt road continues down the middle of the bed. A few hundred metres later the stream enters a wide gorge that becomes a canyon.
The canyon has two drops close together: the first vertical, thirty-six metres, with date palms at its foot, and the second thirty-two metres, after a short stretch of fallen boulders. Below them the canyon is deep and walled until it comes out onto the plateau.
The green trail does not go down the drops: from the head of the first one it climbs to the north bank and returns to the bed only at the end of the canyon. From there the bed is open, and after about two and a half kilometres you reach Ma'ok Gvei Peres, the end of the section.

Safety
No entry when there is flash flood risk. The section is long and linear, so a car is needed at the end. Anyone not rappelling can bypass both drops on the green trail on the north bank.
Escape routes
- From Ma'ok Gvei Peres, at the end of the section, marked trails lead up to Route 25.
Recommendations
The trail on the north bank gives a good view of the canyon and the two drops, also for those not rappelling.
Equipment
Rappelling gear for a thirty-six metre drop, a helmet and plenty of water.
