Terms of Use

1. Who we are
canyoning.co.il is part of Community Ropes, which is operated by Kama Trails (שבילי קמה) ("we"). The system was built and is run for us by Codama. Using the site means you accept these terms and the Privacy Policy.
2. What the site is
A free, open catalogue of rappelling sites, canyons, cliffs and caves in Israel. The information comes from contributions by guides and hikers and from open sources.
3. Safety. Please read
- The information on the site comes from the community and from open sources. It can be wrong, incomplete or out of date.
- Conditions change: floods, moved rocks, damaged anchors, closures and weather. A report from last week may already be wrong.
- You are responsible for your own safety and for the people with you. Before every trip check the conditions, the forecast and flood warnings, and confirm with the authorities (for example the Israel Nature and Parks Authority, and the IDF in firing zones) and with qualified guides.
- Rappelling and canyoning require training, experience and sound equipment. If you don't have them, go with a qualified guide.
- Nothing on the site is professional advice or a replacement for instruction.
- To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for injury, damage or loss caused by relying on information on the site.
4. Sources and credits
- Map data: © OpenStreetMap contributors, under the ODbL. Map tiles: OpenFreeMap and OpenMapTiles. Elevation data: Mapzen and AWS Open Data. The trail layer is derived from OpenStreetMap and can be downloaded under the ODbL.
- Photos from Wikimedia Commons are shown under each photo's own licence, with the credit and licence next to it. Reusing them is governed by their licence, not by these terms.
- Some facts about sites in the Judean Desert were consulted in a printed guidebook, and the source is named on each site's page. We took facts only, not the book's text, maps or photos.
5. Using the site's content
- You are welcome to read, share and link to any page.
- Photos uploaded by contributors are licensed to the site, not to the public. Reusing them needs permission.
6. How to contribute
- You can send a field report and a photo without an account. Registered contributors can also comment, suggest corrections and add links to YouTube videos.
- Write in your own words. Don't copy text from websites or books.
- Information about hazards, closures and floods comes first.
- No personal details of others, no advertising and no offensive or illegal content.
- Don't upload a photo someone else took, or a photo that identifies people who did not agree.
7. The licence for what you contribute
- Your content stays yours.
- When you upload a photo you confirm: "I own the rights to the photo, and I grant the site a permanent, royalty-free, irrevocable licence to use, edit and publish it, with credit." The same licence applies to reports, comments and suggested corrections you send.
- You confirm that you hold the rights to what you sent, and that anyone shown in a photo agreed to its publication.
- The credit will use the name you wrote.
- We may edit (for example crop, resize, fix typos or shorten), merge the information into the site's page, decline to publish, hide or remove, without giving a reason.
- Contributions are not paid. Prusiks are a token of thanks only and have no monetary value.
- The licence is irrevocable, but if you ask, we will remove your photo or your name from the site where we reasonably can.
8. Review before publication
Every contribution is reviewed before it is published, by community moderators we approved or by our team. This can take a few hours. We don't promise to publish every contribution.
9. Reporting a problem
Found a mistake, dangerous information or content that infringes your rights? Write to hello@ropes.community with the page link. We will check and fix or remove it when needed.
10. What is not allowed
Getting around the submission limits or the Turnstile check, sending spam, running automated collection that loads the site, or trying to break into the site.
11. Liability
The site is provided as is, with no promise that it will be available, accurate or up to date. Links to other sites are for convenience only, and we are not responsible for their content.
12. Changes
We may change the site and these terms. We will post any change here.
13. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by Israeli law. The competent courts in Tel Aviv-Jaffa have exclusive jurisdiction.
