About

According to the book Nahal Shuah is about 17 kilometres long, from its head on the slopes of Mount Avital until it splits into a delta in the Hula valley. Most of it is a deep canyon whose bed is covered in dense thorny thicket, and moving along it is not simple.

The interesting part is the central falls canyon. It opens with a low 5 metre fall, and about 350 metres later the stream drops over a 14 metre fall, its highest, where a spring emerges along the cliff and feeds the flow down to the outlet. Then comes a 4 metre fall that can be descended, an 8 metre fall, and finally another 8 metre fall whose foot, the book says, needs equipment to reach. The book says reaching the foot of some falls requires a rope, and that some have bypasses from the southern bank that are not always clear.

Below the falls the canyon is deep and overgrown, and the book describes it as impassable. The book says the stream and its falls are in an active firing zone, and there is an area suspected of mines downstream.

Safety

Active firing zone and minefields: per the book, do not enter without checking with the army. The bypasses are not always clear and can be dangerous, and the thorny thicket makes movement hard.
