About

Bekiim is a short channel on the eastern edge of the Judean plateau above Mishor Amiaz. It ends in the lower part of Nahal Peratzim. The head has a wide view east over Mishor Amiaz, Mount Sodom and the Edom and Moab mountains.

The head is a big cliff line cut by many small gullies, with no single main channel. It is descended on a path along the north side of the cliffs, ending on a steep spur into the middle of the bed. The sketch marks this cliff line as stepped and unstable.

Below, a deep canyon runs on with large fallen boulders. At a prominent acacia the bed enters a narrow slot with a few low chockstone steps. The slot ends at a drop of about twelve metres, vertical to sloping. A bypass on the south bank goes around it and the slot.

After the drop comes an open stretch and a short, narrow conglomerate slot. From there the channel runs between soft Lashon formation sediments to the lower Nahal Peratzim bed.

Access notes

Linear route. The book does not describe the way to the head, which lies far from roads above Mishor Amiaz. It ends in the lower Nahal Peratzim bed; the sketch points from there towards Neve Zohar and Mishor Amiaz.

Parking

The book names no parking, at the start or at the end.
