About

Har Arbel (Mount Arbel) rises above the Sea of Galilee, and its cliff is part of a national park and nature reserve run by the Israel Nature and Parks Authority. The site is well set up: an entrance plaza, parking, toilets, picnic tables and marked trails, including routes that descend the cliff with handholds.

Rappelling at Arbel is forbidden and actively enforced. The ban protects the cliff's wildlife: cliff-nesting birds such as the wallcreeper and the blue rock thrush, and the Arbel door snail, which lives only here.

A group coming to Arbel should plan a hike and viewpoints, not a rope activity. Entry is paid and advance booking is recommended. There is a last entry time for the trails that descend the cliff, well before closing time.
